Is there a big difference in

Is there a big difference in using the flat type spark plug like the NGK BUHW-2 or the Champion L78YC. I have a 25 hp Mercury serial OA743255. Is it possible that the flat type do not like prolong idle speed like when trolling. Is there one spark plug better than the other one for that use.
Is it OK the use the quiksilver Hight Performance gear oil (the blue one) in the same motor.
