Hi. I was surprised that I could not find a thread on this topic. For sure it's been done before, or maybe I'm crazy for thinking it.
So I'm looking at reassembling my crankcase halves and realizing I have no 'spaghetti seal'... but I do have an oring making kit. Has anyone ever tried using oring material in place. I read somewhere that the OD of spaghetti seal is about .100" and I have oring that is super close to that. Also, below is a snip from my shop manual, it does say 'spaghetti or rubber seal' so I can't be that far off. Is this a good or bad idea?
I'm also having a tough time finding 3m 847, so I plan on using Permatex 2. It says it's non-hardening and gasoline resistant, but it doesn't say it's anaerobic. I wonder about this stuff.
I've received a lot of great advice in this forum, thanks again everybody for all your help.
