Sounds crazy but who knows?

Guyjg, I am going to the boat on Tues. morning. I will do the test as you say. I'll post the results on Wed. some time when I get back. Thanks to all of you, Bob

Just out of curiosoity. Is the engine oil level higher then the full mark????
The low compression confirms dry cylinders. Still havnt read response to dry and wet compression tests. Also had a thought about the oil pump. Missed the slot on the pump when dist was installed and possibly broke it off. The constant loose valve adjustment is saying to me that the lifters are not pumping up do to no oil pressure. Unless these are old lifters. Since you didnt replace the cam you shouldnt have replaced the lifters. I know it should still start but at this point none of us have any idea as to what errors were made when this engine was reassembled. I dont mean to sound evil mean or nasty but it sounds like who ever did the work on your motor has no clue about rebuilding an engine. No telling what mistakes were made or how many. I really hope you all find what the problems are here. Id be very interested in knowing. But I feel like we are being listened to like a teenager listens to his dad. Good luck Hippi. I hope to read she runs fantastic.

My ADD will not allow me to read this entire post but I skimmed it pretty well. Did we ever get compression, 80 psi ain't gonna cut it. The computer screwing up won't effect anything if you have spark during the crank cycle. You may not get correct advance but you should be able to rotate the distributor by hand to get it started. Have you done that. I also never saw a response to the camshaft question, was it replaced? If so, did you use a LH camshaft?

These things aren't rocket science. Spark + compression + fuel, all applied at the proper time will make this engine run. Raw fuel dumped down the carb will allow it to fire and eliminate a carb issue, at least for now.

same ignition in my baja chief said get a delco remey from michigan mortz 350 motor, had hell with igm!!! boat runs like a rocket now !!!
