"So, My first boat (Senza

"So, My first boat (Senza 206 with Volvo EFI) and am looking to winterize it. Do I remove the flame arrestor and spray fogger, or, just spray into the cylinders and crank the engine, or remove the fuel filter and add 2 stroke, or, not fog it at all.
Also, do I need to remove the sterndrive or just make sure it's fully down when I drain it.
Advice much appreciated!"

"Read your owners manual! So

"Read your owners manual! Some manufacturers of late model "0" piston clearance engines, such as the 6.0 and 8.1, do not want fogging oil introduced into the cylinder. Mercruiser feels this way but I'm not sure about Volvo and I don't know if you even have one of these engines.}"

"After a trip to the boat this

"After a trip to the boat this week, I'm really convinced that fogging is really, really important. The motors of my boat--stored on land for several weeks now--were wringing wet with condensation. They looked as if someone had taken a freakin' hose to them! Granted, it's weird weather right now--Old Man Winter has been delayed again--but it got my attention, lemme tell you.

"'Fogging' the engine

"'Fogging' the engine is one thing, but running an EFI it is just as important to take care of the fuel system. The 'FICHT' mix with Fogging oil and 2+4 added to the fuel, use a seperate cannister hooked to the engine, is probably the easiest one. This may even be used on the above mentioned engines where the producers are not too happy with fogging through the air intake."

"I would not use fogging oil t

"I would not use fogging oil through the carb or intake. This sounds like a good idea oiling the upper end but it causes more trouble then its worth. If Iwanted to fog, I would pull all the plugs and put a squirt of oil into each clyinder and roll it over once. Do not allow to start. Really we stopped fogging about 8 yrs ago. As for water on the out side of the engine due to temps chnaging, open the boat up let the air move in and out taking the water with it. I shrink wrap my trawler and run a fan in the blige engine room all winter long, moves air, drys out the fiberglass. I open all the hatches in the sole."

"My marina (and others&#41

"My marina (and others) would not allow that fan to run all winter unattended--it's a fire risk should it short out. Also, my insurance company would not allow it.

Jeff"
