Solenoid install

I'm in the process of installing a new solenoid on a 1976 Evinrude 115. The two small terminals are marked S and I. Which one is hooked to the ignition switch and which one is hooked to ground?

If you're installing a proper solenoid, it doesn't matter. If you're using a make do automotive solenoid, not a good idea.

Agreed----You need to be very careful using a solenoid with those markings.----Hurry to a dealer and buy the correct factory part.----Solenoids are not " all the same "

That sounds like an automotive solenoid.
