I've worked on cars for a long time and would always rather solder and heat shrink two wires together as opposed to using crimp connectors. I have to replace a diode in my outboards wiring harness. The diode I am replacing uses crimp connectors but I think that is a labor saving ploy on the assembly line. Is there something I am missing, maybe vibrations or something make the crimp connectors better? I know I don't haver to worry about corrosion with solder. I have glue filled heat shrink tube and know about diodes and heat sinks.
