Here is a new one that I heard. A friend of mine who has Jet-ski's is planning on upgrading to a boat and wanted to know what the differents were when it comes to cleaning up after running the bay. After explaining that it is basicly just like a Jetski, just larger, I told him that the best product to flush the motor was to use Salt-Away. He disagreed.
According to "Bob", he flushes his Jet-ski motor with Dawn dish soap. He pours a few squirts in to the flush line then flushes like normal. It bubbles all over the place and neutralizes the salt (acid vs base) in those "hard to reach" place in the motor. The soap then gets rinsed out with the fresh water.

This seems to make sence on paper but....

What do you think?"

"My chemistry tells me soap is a base. Basic chemistry says an acid plus a base produces a salt plus water. I'm not sure how adding a base, soap, to a salt would neutralize it. Salt, in this case sodium chloride is the product of a neutralization reaction."

"It looks like snake oil to me, but I am sure the manufacturer will disagree
