Was wondering if the smartcraf

Was wondering if the smartcraft system has to be reset after a repair has been completed or will it reset itself. on my 2001 150 opti I had a fault sensor screen followed by reserve 100% oil remaining asked a tech and he suggested replacing the sensor on the reserve oil resevoir seeing it is only a $13. part any thoughts Thanks

"The oil and the temp sensors that Merc uses are junk and fail regularly - at least when they fail they indicate a problem and don't die quietly and then potentially leave the motor unprotected with "you" thinking everything is fine.

If you replace the sensor all should look good on your display, but believe the fault code will remain stored in the computer.."
