had my 2002 optimax 135hp powered mako out the other day and suddenly the alarm on the smart gauges beeped four times and on the gauge it read 100% reserve in oil tank then went off . like a concerned and responsible owner i shut down the motor and checked the oil level in the tanks ,they both were full. went on fishing alarm sounding later in the day then went off. motor did fine. the next day i filled the oil tank up to be safe and the alarm sounded then went off so i proceeded on down the lake then the guardian system kicked in and powered down the engine . all oil tanks are full; reserve and main, does anyone know what could be the problem?

checked that , the gauge read 2.3 gallons and i put another gallon in thinking it was low on oil but that didnt help .mind you the low oil alarm is not what is registering. a series of beeps then "100%remaining in oil reserve tank" is showing thats what so puzzling if it was low on oil or the float valve is not working properly then the "low oil" alarm would sound but thats not happening. i have noticed that in the past after i load the boat on the trailer and tilt the motor and place the motor-toter in place that the next time i take the boat out the motor-toter is covered with oil .could it be possible that the oil is not getting to the proper area because of a cracked oil line or loose connections?

The "engine mounted" tank is your main tank. The large tank you fill is your "reserve tank".

The main tank has a sensor and a float in it. This tank should be full. If the float in this tank gets saturated with oil it will sink or if it is partially saturated it will move up and down causing an intermittent alarm.

If this is the case, you will replace the engine mounted "main" oil tank.

When the oil lines get old, they will split like a banana peel. All the lines should be replaced anyway due to age.
