"1995,150HP,Ocean runner. The last two weekends I have had some intermittent surging when running above 4200RPM. I usually cruise at 3500-3800RPM so I didn't do anything yet. Today the motor was bogged down to 2500 RPM at WOT. I moved the throttle back to low speed and push back to WOT a few times and the motor opened up but the surging above 4000RPMs was still there. Cooling Water pressure is normal. Not overheating. I can't tell if this is S.L.O.W. mode or something else. No alarms. What conditions other than temp, trigger S.L.O.W?"

"slow mode...is a shaking,..from hell..u cant miss...i would..ck compression and spark,as a procedure,..then,..i would clean,rebuild carbs...then,..i would ck fuel pressure,w/a gauge,..however i hardly ever,need to do that..supposedly,..no oil,triggers it,...i am not sure of that,...and cant verify that,via ,..service manual,..however,...i dont doubt it...if u had been cking ur oiling system,every 2 yrs minimum,....u should have rec a no oil--alarm..."

"Also, with S.L.O.W...... once

"Also, with S.L.O.W...... once it engages and drops to 2500 rpm, simply throttling back then advancing throttle will not result in exceeding that 2500 rpm. The key must be turned OFF, then restart the engine to have S.L.O.W. cancelled to once again gain access to the higher rpms."

"Ok, No shaking from hell, and

"Ok, No shaking from hell, and I didn't have to switch off the key to have the motor go back to high RPMs on it's own, so that means the S.L.O.W mode didn't activate. Yes? My trouble is something else? I'll start with the basics, Compression test, plugs, but I'm thinking fuel system not ignition. Is there a fast, simply way to determine if this is a fuel or ignition problem?"
