"Last year, the last time I ha

"Last year, the last time I had my boat out (1993 Tracker Pontton with 40 Hp Johnson) it would only run about 2500 rpm. Over the winter in reading some of the discussions but unfortunately without making any checks I decided it needed a new temp sensor which I ordered and replaced. Took it to the lake and same problem. Then I decided it must be the diode and so I ordered one of them and Saturday I was prepared to replace it but checked the old one first and found it was good. I have also saw some posts where the problem was the carbs needed rebuilding and cleaning and since I had purchased the rebuild kits some time back (it floods really easily when starting) I went ahead and did that yeaterday, but the carbs looked really clean to me although I am no mechanic and I guess it wouldn't take much to cause a problem. I haven't had a chance to try at the lake yet but I am not optimistic I have solved anything. So I guess one of my questions is if I haven't fixed it, is my power pack the next place I look - will that cause this problem? Also, would anyone have any idea where my warning horn may be located? I never get a horn at anytime, and I grounded the temp sensor yesterday and nothing so I assume I need to change it and if so where should I buy one? And last, I promise, when I pump the fuel bulb, fuel will eventually start running out the back of the motor, is this normal and am I pumping it too much? I also have a 100 Hp Johnson on a Stratos and the bulb just gets hard and I can't pump it anymore, I thought that was normal. I am sorry for the length of this but any help with any of the questions would be a big help."

"You may have a ruptured diapragm in the fuel pump . Start your trouble shooting with a compression test, always. Then a spark check to make sure that you have spark on each cylinder that will jump a gap of 7/16".You may be running on one cylinder."

"do you get a warning horn at

"do you get a warning horn at first turn of the key? I am not getting one on my 225 evinrude, and I too am curious if that is not right. What about your 100hp, doe sit sound at first turn of key? thsnk"

I do not get a warning horn wh

I do not get a warning horn when I turn the key on with the 100 Hp or the 40 hp. I tried grounding the temp sensor wire on the 40 Hp and got nothing - I will try the 100 Hp tonight

"I got my horn working, I foun

"I got my horn working, I found the horn installed right by the control, in a kind of obvious manner, screwed flush to the hull by the control, labeled horn, lol. Any ways I removed it and discovered one wire was not plugged into it. I hope this was not done to hide something, I am anxious to get it on the water now. I bought the boat from a very old man, so chances are he didnt do anything sneaky, I hope. Now when I turn the key on it makes a very annoying squeal momentarily. Maybe that is why it was unplugged, maybe it just accidentally came unplugged. Dont know. BTW, 1993 stratos 201xl w evinrude 225"
