"My BF15A runs great, except as far as I can tell, it's either cavitating or the hub is slipping. It's a long shaft on a 22-inch transom and the cavitation plate is roughly even with the bottom of the transom. It runs great until I get going full throttle and try to turn, then is "slips" or revs up high and looses power, intermittently. I wish I had a bit more speed so I plan to run full throttle alot. How do I know if it's the hub or a cavitation problem?"

"I thing it's cavitating, as "slipage" when turning is almost always a symptom of cavitating (but hey, I'm no expert)..."

it is venting not cavitation

it is venting not cavitation

venting means air form above water
cavitation means air in the water

"I can't lower the motor. Would a doel fin help this issue or make it worse?

Also, if I run this motor at full throttle it seems to get pretty hot but doesn't overheat. I can't imagine that's good for these motors. Can they handle it?"
