Single 318 rotation

I have a Luhrs 280 sedan with

I have a Luhrs 280 sedan with a single LM318 with a paragon V drive. I came across a good deal on a rebuilt reverse drive 318. I was just wondering if anyone on here knew if the one in my boat was a reverse rotation engine or do I have to change the rotation on my rebuilt motor.

"I recommend letting that one go, for running the prop the other direction (with a differnet handed prop) will make slip maneuvers a nightmare.

Nor can the motor be reversed internally without a LOT of work.

Well does anyone in here have a 318 with a paragon V drive tell me what rotation there engine is? I know my prop is a right hand rotation

"Tom – assuming your engine still has its ID plate, the link below (to another section of this site) should help you identify the rotation.

My guess is that you’ll find it to be a standard rotation……which is common for single-engine boats (and what I think Jeff was implying in advising you to avoid this particular motor).
