Quick question on issue I am having with 2001 5.7l engine not shutting down when 'Stop' button is pressed on keyless ignition. New to I/Os but not new to center consoles so bear with me here...
Basically the issue is when launched last week and after 25 mile run to mooring from yard (with zero problems), engine would not shut down when stop button was pressed on the keyless ignition pad. I don't believe the engine is dieseling but believe it is either a bad TKS diode or bad keypad (open to other suggestions if people have opinions) since it appears to be installed new with the boat and from what I have heard, these are prone to breaking...I removed all the connections from the back of the key pad, cleaned, and hooked up - same issue, no engine shutdown.
I have ordered new TKS diode, but my question is - what ignition switch should I order?
Regardless if the switch is not the issue I am dealing with, I don't trust it and want to replace with a more robust switch. Seems to be a flimsy design to begin with.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for new ignition switch?
