I have a 1986 inboard outboard
I have a 1986 inboard outboard Merc 4 cyl 140 HP. Cannot get into netural when out on water. Sitting in yard on trailer it shifts great. When I unhooked cable going to lower unit I can easily push it into forward & reverse. When in the water I have to turn key off & then it will shift easily into netural & I start it back up & then I can put it into forward or reverse. Any suggestions.
