Shifting problem

VP 270 outdrive.
Experience p

VP 270 outdrive.
Experience problem sometimes I will shift to forward but it wont go in gear just revs up.
I can always shift to reverse and move but have to keep shifting forward to reverde till it finally will go into gear. I dont think problem is on outdrive cause had same problem before had a newer engine swaped in.
Could this be in shifter/throtel handel?

"Sounds like a cable problem. Mine was doing that, and I adjusted it at the outdrive.

Hi guys just noticed the threa

Hi guys just noticed the thread. I have the same issue. I changed the prop as I thought it had spun (Not)next step is the Shift shoe in the head of the stern drive any other ideas? It runs ok at 10mph then over revs or just stalls under load.
