"I have a 67 Johnson 100 hp with electric shift control. When engine is cold it shifts into forward with a thump, no problem. But when everything warms up, it will only go into forward if I turn the engine off shift into forward and then restart the engine.
I have the proper "C" type oil in the lower unit. If I jump 12 volts directly to the green wire at back of motor there is no change. If I let the idle get so low it almost stalls, Sometimes it will slip into gear. Never with the force that it goes into reverse. Then I have to bring up the rpm's to see if it went into gear or not.
Am I looking at a weak coil or a worn out hub and spring. Has anyone out there seen this type of problem.
