Hi!
I have a mercury 3.5hp 4 stroke.
This is a brand new motor.
Today, I used it for the first time (its my first motor ever)
Like a total newbies, I tought that the "start" position was only to start so after starting it I put it at like 1/5 throttle and let it warm up for the first time at "high" rpm/idle, and after I put it from neutral to forward like 4-5 times at "high" rpm (max 1/5 of the throttle) occuring a "knock", hard shifting (no weird noise from the motor but a sudden knock).
However, after this mistake I shifted it the good way and I run the motor for 2 hours at different rpm without any problems.
Do you think I hurted anything in my new motor, I stress since this afternoon :O
Thanks!
