"Did you adjust the shift cable right? I believe you must have someone down turning the propeller while you take the shift cable and push it all the way in until it stops. Then measure EXACTLY 6 inches from the center of the hole on the black plastic slide to the center of the adjustable cylinder on your cable. Next step is to place the shifter into reverse and make sure the lower shift cable goes all the way into reverse by pulling it toward you. Once you do this, try to connect it to the shift mechanism on the exhaust riser. If it does not slide on, there is an adjustment nut, on the same bolt that connects your lower shift cable to the shifting assembly on your manifold, which when loosened, can move up and down. This will change your arc distance that the shift cable moves over, ie the higher you place the nut on the shift assembly, the farther it will pull the cable into reverse. For a new shift cable, it may need to be adjusted down. Once those are adjusted then you should be able to place into netural without it clicking. Let me know how you make out. Jon"
