do you have to run the motor to shift it through the gears as the manual states or can you shift without it running to check the gears.......

If the engine is not

If the engine is not running the clutch dog may not move into the gear because the high spots of the gear and dog might prevent it from happening. This could cause trouble with the cable or the remote box. If you wan't to shift witout running the engine, you should have someone turn the prop as you shift in and out of gear, or turn the flywheel clockwise.
