Shift Problem

Ok, I put it forward and there is no shift until I rev the engine up to 2000 RPM...then she goes into gear and there is no further problem until I shift back to neutral then the same problem continues. Is this a hydrolic problem or what? This is an alpha one 350 engine.

Need more info, what type of drive, and if you contunie to shift at 2000 RPM you with out a doubt will damange your drive.

The out drive is a 1996 alpha one.

OK. disconnect the shift cable going to the lower drive at the engine, Start the engine at idle and try to shift the drive by moving the cable by hand, It should be smooth and fairly easy, if its not it may be a shift cable , let me know.
