Shift linkage moves up/down???

It me again!! Thanks guyjg and Bt Doctur for your help on the trim/tilt problem. It is working great now. My next question is this. I changed the impeller last nite on my '04 Glastron 5.0-Carb Alpha 1-Gen 2 and when I put it back together, I noticed the shift linkage moves up and down about a 1/4". I am talking about the gold rod that comes up and makes a 90 degree turn at the end and mates up with the upper part next to where the plastic tube snaps on. It was in forward gear and lined up front/back in a straight line. It does not move down so far as to come apart but it is close. Makes me a little nervous. Also, I started thinking after I went to bed "did I put the impeller in with the vanes turned the correct way"? I think I did but not 100% sure. If I didn't, will they right themselves when it starts turning? Thanks again-this site is awesome!!!

I don't know about your shift linkage but I do know if you put your impeller in the wrong way it won't right itself. It won't pump water like it should either. I did that one time and my engine was always warmer than usual. Looking down at the impellar it turns clockwise.
