I have a 1992 4.3 mercruiser, could someone tell me how the shift cable bracket bolts up. A picture would help. Working with something I didn’t take apart. Please an thank you.

going off memory, it should attach to the starboard exhaust manifold...

The cable going to the drive connects 'closest' to the pivot and the cable to the remote box connects 'furthest' from the pivot.

If you need details, you can go to the parts breakdown to see fastener - washer orientations....

not the best but something to put things in their relative positions...

Now I have another problem mybe some one can help me with. My starter will turn over the motor at the Silinoid but won’t with the key. Any ideas, putting in a new motor an running into these problems.

Assuming you are jumping the starter's solenoid and the engine cranks over, I'd say the "key not cranking" issue is related to the slave solenoid or the wiring to in...its probably has the 'old style' solenoid and they can come in two versions - one with a dedicated ground terminal and one where the case of the solenoid needs a dedicated ground...

Are you getting 12v back from helm to soleniod? Is solenoid wired correctly? Should be able to jumper 12v to solenoid and get it to close to fire starter. apply 12 v to small terminal on soleniod yellow /red (the one that does not have the black (ground) wire) if it doesnt get starte to crank soleniod is bad
