can anyone tell me how to adju

can anyone tell me how to adjust the shift cables it seems that i get it to go into forward but when i put it in reverse it dies because the roller switch moves and cuts it out

Is this a new lower shift cable ?
A bad cable or built up corrosion will do the same thing tripping the switch.
 
no i just got done replacing t

no i just got done replacing the pump in the lower unit and when i put it back together i had full forward and neutral but no reverse so i trird adjusting the cables but once I put it in reverse it shuts down

control box in fwd, lower unit in fwd, slide up and insert the shift shoe to line upwith the upper shoe.Lined up correctly the shoes will be straight, inline , bow-to-stern,"
 
I dropped the lower unit and p

I dropped the lower unit and put it back up the shoe is bow to stern and I still just have foward and netrual as soon as i put it in reverse the engine shuts down and the switch is on the high cam shutting it down but if i take the cable off and push it all the way in it goes into reverse pull it out and it goes into foward .I looked at a diagrham of the cable but they don't look like my setup
