"Well here is the deal. After much head scratching and frustration, we have a shifting boat (most of the time). When we first put it into the water, it would get stuck in gear (docking was tough to say the least). We thought that replacing the lower shift cables would do the trick (kind of helped but still did not fix completely). Inside the box, there is a "V" shaped (I guess you would call it a spring) that is part of the interrupter switch. The electric motor could not move this spring enough to engage the interrupter. Thus, we "rigged" the spring by bending the ends so that it would now interrupt the motor to shift. This feels like a temporary fix to me. Any ideas on how to actually fix it? Or how to convert it and get rid of the electric system?"
