"AQ120B Sev Marchal 38 amp 3 wire alternator. How do I wire this 3 post isolator I have? Is this considered an external regulator? I've put so much work into the stereo, the glass work and now I'm a little stuck on what seems to be a simple issue.

"One of the three wires (red or orange) goes to the + of the alternator; another one (usually black) goes to the (-); and the third one (usually purple with a resistor attached) goes to a prong in the back of the alternator (field excitation). If the original 'Volvo' it is very simple. B+ from alternator IN, then from the other 2 to each battery You want to charge. Think to remember it is marked B+, B1 and B2. It is nothing but a diode splitter for the B+ preventing flow between two batteries. Note that You might loose out about 0,2-4 volts in charging compared to use simple battery switches to regulate. I used to throw the old Volvo/SEV 's in the garbage and replace with a 75Amp Valeo-Motorola."

"I was just worried about the external regulator. If that is what it actually is. I see some isolators with 4 posts in which the external reg is wired to, but they only sent me a 3 post iso. I would rather NOT hook it up like I "think" it goes and end up with a dead batt on the h2o."
