Setting timing on a 5.7 gipmda

How do you set the timing on a 5.7 gipmda?

I believe that this is an EST system.
See your Volvo Penta OEM service/work shop manual.
It should instruct you as to how to go into BASE mode for setting initial timing.

Does anyone have a link to this manual? I have a rinda codemate which lets you put the engine in service mode. I tried to set the timing at 8 degrees but the closest I could get it and still have the engine running was 20 degrees. What might I be doing wrong or what might be broken? Thanks in advance for the help.

I've seen that question answered here before- do a search. I have the same engine and I looked up the instrucions previously.
