"Hello, just found this forum lots of great info.I just bought 1988 silverton with 454's and I need to change the points this spring, do both motors need to have #1 piston at tdc or is one motor diferent from the other."
 
dont bother with points. buy

dont bother with points. buy the pertronix ignitor. this is breakerless system. electronic ignition.
about 30min job including resetting timing.
this will eliminate the need for points in a tune up.

The parts you install need to be timed to the motor, so it fires when the points would have...."

"I know you have to set the timing after changing point, but configuration of the distributor with the Petronix, does that change the timing 10 degrees btdc??? Someone told me his got knocked out 30 degrees btdc, and thats alot. What do you know about this Petronix? Thanks for the input."

The static Timng at idle stays at 10° or where ever Crusader wants it....

30° would be the Max timing Advance,.... Probably for between 2500rpms to WOT....The Distributer will, or should take care of When it gets it's timng Advance...."
 
Your timing will be off a litt

Your timing will be off a little when you change anything in the distributor.

Believe timing should be 12Degrees BTDC on the model 350's.
