You don't. Timing on EFI outboards is not adjustable, it's controlled by the ECM. You can check the timing to ensure that the ECM is functioning correctly.

1) The test must be done with the outboard under load- either in a test tank or with the boat secured to a trailer and backed into the water. You cannot do this with the engine running on "muffs".

2) Connect your timing light to # 1 spark plug lead. Run the outboard up to 1500-1800 rpm. The timing indicator on the flywheel should read 14 degrees BTDC, + or - 1 degree. Slowly increase the rpms to WOT (6000 rpm). The timing indicator should now read 28 degrees BTDC, + or - 1 degree. Any readings outside these ranges indicates a problem with the ECM.
