Just bought engine and have f

Just bought engine and have found several bad wires and one carb is not working. I am new to this so any advice very welcome. Would like to locate a service manual if posible.
 
The motor only has one carbur

The motor only has one carburetor(4 barrels in a
common body).Is the carburetor not working or is the problem related to piston or cylinder problems?What is cylinder compression?
