Serial number help ??

so before i post im up north at work no were near my boat i just called my dad to see if he could find the serial number for me while im at work so i could order parts ahead of time this is the number he came up with 1995924 i have a mercury 500 50hp thats all i kno about i thinks its around 65-67 year any ideas ?? the number is not coming up on anything can anyone verify thanks

Looks like you're correct as it appears to be a 1966... 500 (50.0 HP) S/N range 1870389 - 2097444 = 1966
