Serial # and switch issue.

I have been looking for the serial # on my engine and found a sticker on the head. The #'s are 0T616245 & 1090412AD. Could either one of these be the serial #.

If so I would like to know as much about the engine as possible; year, hp, salt water etc.

Also the tilt/trim switch on the engine goes down but not up, both work on the throttle lever. There are 3 wires coming out of the switch; blue/white, green/white and red. The blue and the green go to relay mounted on the block. Is there a way to test the relays or the switch? Which one, green or blue is for the up motion?

Easy to remember wire colours- blue is up. like a blue sky. green is down, like green grass. Test the switch first, there are only 1 set of relays, and if the up function on the remote works, the relay must be ok.

The info on your outboard is:

MERCURY - ( 90 H.P. (2003 ))

Serial No: 0T616245 Model No: 1090412AD

Thanks for the reply and info Bilge Rat Jim.How can I find out if it is a salt water engine?

It's not an SW. But, it really doesn't matter- the only difference is the composition of the anodes. If you plan on running the outboard in salt water, just make sure to flush it well after each use.
