"Does anyone have any experience with a Sendec Tachometer (one wire wrapped around a spark plug wire)? The one I have seems to fluctuate as much as 1,000 RPM when the engine sounds like it's running at a constant speed. Any cure for that?"

"I have one and you are correct, it does seem to flucuate a little at the lower RPMs. I feel like when I get going the flucuations decrease or become minimal though. I would make sure your wire coating is intact and try not to run it next to any other wires that may have sporatic voltage changes."

"Mine jumps around at all speeds. It may jump from 4200 to 5000, back to 3800, up to 4500, all within a matter of seconds at times. On the low end it bounces around 650 to 750, so the increment of change appears proportional with the RPM. It's a brand new unit, and the wire does run parallel to the engine's battery cable for a foot or so. I'll try to figure another path to get it away from that cable and see what happens."

"Just for the heck of it try hooking to a different spark plug wire. See if it makes a difference.

I really got mine for the hour meter (maintenance) but it is nice to know when your running 1/2 throttle, 3/4 throttle etc."
