Seawater pump replacement

I have a maxum 2400 scr fitted

I have a maxum 2400 scr fitted with a 2000 4.3 EFI MERCRUISER.
My question is
Can i replace the impellor in the sea water pump with the boat in the water?
Or will i flood the boat when i remove the two water pipes?
 
Yes if you can pinch shut the

Yes if you can pinch shut the inlet hose with a longnose vicegrips. Set the grips to just squeeze the hose enough w/o damaging it. You will get some water from the engine when you disconnect the pump; use another longnose vice grip to prevent it.

"If it's a thru hull intake, you should have a sea cock to shut off the water. Otherwise the visegrip system like Guy says is about the only way.

welli pulled the pump and used

welli pulled the pump and used a bottle of san miguel beer as a bung and worked out just perfect!!!
Without your help i woyuld have definately had the marina lift it out for me!! the confidence you gave me saved me load of cash! thanks again
