It may be a Canadian model number.
It was probably built for Sears by Eska.
The aircooled 3.5 motor is most likely a Tecumseh.
The air-cooled 3.5 was produced up until 1981, however, Simpson-Sears Canda started renaming their stores to just Sears in 1973/74 and made it official in 1978. So your motor pre-dates 78 for sure.
Almost all other Sears models, except the Eska built, have a 3 digit mfg code that starts the model number - your's doesn't.
