Sealing sped pick up tube

How do I seal off the spedo pick up tube on my new Alpha 1 Gen 2 transoms? My Mercruiser installation manuals (I have two dated 1994 and 2001) both call for a plug to be screwed in to the spedo pick up. I cannot do this as the only fitting provided is a white push on plastic connector for the spedo pipe. Nothing else appears to have been supplied in the transom kits to seal the spedo pick up apart from a yellow plastic dust cover, which seems inadequate for the purpose of preventing water ingress.

If you just match the threads of the part going into the drive you can use anything. If you have the other part that connects to it where the tubing connects, connect a piece of tubing and pinch it off. Not a critical component so no issue is there is anything there or not.. Most are broken off anyway due to forgetting to seperate prior to removing outdrive.................
