Sealent for transom bolts

Hi

I have removed my outbo

Hi

I have removed my outboard and now wish to bolt it back on to the transom. The hull is aluminium and I am concerned about which sealant/silicon to use on the bolts as I have heard that some affect aluminium. Is there on that you would recommend??The bolts are Stainless steel.

Use a non-metallic silicone.

Use a non-metallic silicone. The colored automotive silicones have metallic components. Try a marine white silicone.

Agree with Chris - products such as 3M's 5200 is a sealant specifically designed for marine applications..
