sealant?

What sealant do you use on the spaghetti seal on a Johnson outboard gear case.
I just did a full seal set and used Aviation Form a Gasket and it did not harden nor did it seal.
It oozes out every time I use it and it leaks oil.
I am about to strip it down again and I would like to use the right stuff.

The CORRECT stuff is Scotchgrip 847, part number 776964 right here at marineengine.com A tube is enough to last you a life time. But you probably will find other uses for it.

Make sure you cut the spaghetti square and just a tad long to overhang the bearing cavity a bit.
