"Greetings group, The fun never ends. While replacing my omc 1977 (235 ford) high profile outdrive, i noticed that the two top screws (bolts)of the seal retainer, have been worn off by about 1/16" of an inch by the intermediate ball gear. Just the top two, not tne bottom one. The wear was caused by the gear being two close to the bolts. Was this the fault of missing shims ? or is there some sort of wear going on that i should be concerned about. The wear appears to be old. What direction should i take to correct this problem?.
