Last Tuesday went to the boat to load it up to go shrimping ran the engine up to 170 on the muffs shut down fine just heard a sound from the engine like a puff not dieseling. Friday we loaded the pots and food in the water it took 2 cranks to start it like it was flooded when it started belt squealed really loud shut it down. Loosened the serpentine belt rotated the sea water pump in the correct direction started it ran fine we were out all day Saturday no problems except crank pulley had worn a flat spot on the belt picked up a squeal. I have the Dayco 3 year warranty belt on it from Autozone I returned they exchanged it with no questions asked can't beat that. I do have a spare in the boat never leave the dock without it. Anybody else experienced this?

Bob, are you asking if anyone has experienced a bad belt, or experienced an impeller being turned in the oposite direction?

With your Merc B drive engine mounted style sea water pump, I believe that the vanes would have self corrected once the engine fired up.

I meant impeller rotating in opposite direction.
