" Hi There,
I purchased a 14' Fiberglass boat and 50hp Sea King Motor, and was unable to test it out before purchase. I was told that it hadn't been used since last summer, but at that time it was running well. I got it home and stuck the motor in a water barrel, it is very difficult to get it started. I have to turn the motor over 15 to 20 times to get it to fire. Once it fires up, it runs pretty good (top speed of 25). However it idles pretty rough.
Model number is VWB19092B. Serial no. C10761. When was it manufactured? Where should I start my troubleshooting? What is proper spark gap? What type/number spark plug is recomended? Is 40:1 the right fuel/oil mixture. Is there anywhere I could get an owners manual for this boat/motor? I plan on purchasing the service manuals that are offered by Clymer and Seloc. Any recomendation as to which is the better? Thanks for any help anyone can provide. "
