" Go to your local library and find the Old Outboard Motor Service Manual Vol 1 (30hp and under). You will find your motor listed in the OMC section and it tell you the fuel mix, spark plugs, etc. "

"The Sea King 12 that you spea

"The Sea King 12 that you speak of is actually a OMC design and you may use the 50/1 fuel mixture which is 1 pint of 50/1 oil to 6 gallons of fuel. It's okay to use the 87 octane unleaded fuel, and of course you can use the higher octane fuel if you prefer. I suggest that you use only the 50/1 oils that are available at various marine dealerships. Use Champion J6C spark plugs, setting the gap at .030 .

" Hi I am looking for some specs on a 7hp Sea King made by Montgomery Wards: fuel mixture, plug gap
and type. I tried to push a 17ft alum tracker with it but could ony do about 4mph. Something wrong? -Ken "

" No offence to Joe with 30 ye

" No offence to Joe with 30 years experience, but my information indicats that Gale products, such as Sea Kings from the mis 1950's still had some bronze bearings, and therefore 1/2 pint of 30 wt oil to the gallon was recommended (16 to 1). NON prediluted 30 wt two cycle oil is prefered, though the modern TCWIII is OK. Using mixtures of over 30 to one has resulted in hundreds of motors with connectin rods thrown out the side of crankcases, which ruins them. Better a little smoke than that. Art "

" Hello, I have an old 12 Hp sea king outboard engine. Got it a long time ago and has not turned since last 14 yrs. I have no books and all decals are gone. I presume its a 1954 model. Help, needs several parts for in progress rebuild. "

"Alex.... Your message is buried under someone elses topic. I know it's easy to get lost here though. However, go to the previous page (back button) then go all the way to the bottom of that page. You'll see a large button there whereas clicking on it will allow you to enter your question etc under your own name and topic. I just happened to come across your question here.

Now....That "Sea King" engine may be one of the engines that was what might be called an offspring of the Evinrude/Johnson outboards and many of the parts would be interchangable. Look closely at your engine.... there should be a plate attached somewhere that would have the "Model" and "Serial" number imprinted on it. The "Model" number would reveal the year and horsepower. Get that to us and I'm sure that someone here would be able to pinpoint what you have.
