Took off thermostat cover and cleaned out sand and backwashed...twice. Runs fine. Buzzer cuts off as soon as RPM's go down. I havent taken off the foot yet. Any thoughts?

"If the water is cool coming out of the head, maybe it's simply your sensor starting to give up on you. These are a pretty basic design, work on resistance and do commonly fail. For most models the replacement is about 20 bucks.

You can test it with a ohm meter and a pot of water on the stove if you want to go that route..."

That makes sense and I appreciate your input. I'll repalce the sensor. Do you know the temp that the sensor opens?"

"Here Pete, I will post a chart - not sure if exactly applies to all Merc temp sensors (it is a merc chart but don't know the exact application that I got if from), but should give you a good idea (I am assuming that they probably use a similar sensor for most/all models).
