I recently purchased a boat with a 1999 Mercury 150 hp salt water series 2 stroke and have a continued problem with the engine dying out at idle speed after a few short minutes at idle around 800 rpm. Then the*rpm suddenly drops down*to around 550 and dies.* Then, It will restart fairly easily*and repeat**the process.* I took it to a service tec and he set the low idle set up sync and link and then installed a new idle speed control unit on the motor.*He said 3 cylinders are dropping out.* After installing the new control he said the problem was persiting.*
Does anyone have experience with this and can help me know where to*look next in my trouble shooting?* It always dies when docking at the worst time in current and wind.
