I have a 1978 evinrude 150 and thanks to this disscussion board im making progress. I know that none of my plugs are getting spark. I got a manual that said for me to test some other things I need to get a s80 neon tester.
does anyone know where to get one?

"That old S80 Neon Tester isn't needed.

Remove the spark plugs. Disconnect the large RED electrical connector at the engine. Crank the engine by using a small jumper from the battery terminal of the battery solenoid to the small 3/8" solenoid nut that engages it.

If you have spark now, the usual problem is a shorted ignition switch. You can test the switch by removing the black/yellow wire from it, then checking for spark. If with the key in the ON position and that wire removed you have spark BUT do not when it's connected, the switch is faulty."
