In passing the winter hours, I am rebuilding my water pumps, new impellers etc. I checked the service manual, but it doesn't say whether or not there is a method of priming the pumps after re-entering the water, only to lubricate the new impellers with grease (vaseline?)

Will they prime themselves or do I need to pour water down the hoses?"

vaseline will work but isn't the best stuff to use - it isn't "friendly" to the impeller. i use a real thin layer of a GE silicone compound.

the only 'trick' to priming the pumps is to make sure you open the seacocks....for what its worth, taking the time now to makeup a checklist, now, will only help in the spring - more detail makes it easy on everybody, especially if you get lucky enough to get 'free help'."

Our Marina drops the boats back in in the middle week of April.

I'm so anxious to get back on, I've been checking it virtually every other week, just to look at it!

So come the middle of March ("a couple of months") any decent 'warm'

April! UUUuummmm! Can't

April! UUUuummmm! Can't come too soon. I was at the boat last weekend and nearly froze my fingers off doind a few minor things. It was in the 'teens at the time.
