"Water intrusion into bellow has caused a noisy gimbal bearing and rusty u-joiut. Is any rust acceptable on u-joint, yoke, etc? I am replacing the gimbal bearing for sure.

"External rust on U joint is n

"External rust on U joint is not unusual and not necessarily a problem. If there is enough pitting to cause imbalance or if there is damage to the sockets or weakening of the internal grooves which retain the clips, then replace the entire universal joint. If rust is nominal just brush and oil, and replace spiders."
