I JUST GOT THE BOAT AND LIKE E

I JUST GOT THE BOAT AND LIKE EVERY USED BOAT IT`S BEEN SITTING FOR A FEW YEARS. I AM TRYING TO RUN THE BOAT ON LAND AND I`M SURE THERES WATER SUPPOSED TO BE COMMING OUT OF THE 2 EXHAUST FLAPS ON THE BACK OF THE OUTDRIVE.
I HAVE PUT IN A NEW IMPELLER KIT JUST BECAUSE IT`S BEEN SITTING BUT I SAW A VIDEO WHERE THE WATER WAS SHOOTING OUT OF THE EXHAUST FLAPS. NOW IS THERE A WARM UP PERIOD WHERE A THERMOSTAT HAS TO OPEN BEFORE I SHOULD SEE THE WATER COME OUT OR SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR A PROBLEM BECAUSE I ONLY RAN IT FOR ABOUT 5 MINS.}

"Water should start to come ou

"Water should start to come out within seconds. From totally dry and drained, no more than 10 or 20 seconds. Whether or not the thermostat is opened or closed water flow depends on engine rpm and flow from the hose."

THANX FOR ANSWERING ROBERT.

THANX FOR ANSWERING ROBERT.
I WENT BACK OUT TO CHECK A FEW MORE THINGS I TOOK OFF WHAT LOOKS LIKE A BRASS OR COPPER LINE GOING INTO THE SEA WATER PUMP AND WITH MY GARDEN HOSE ON NOTHING COMES OUT (LIKE IT`S RESTRICTED SOMEWHERE FROM THE OUTDRIVE TO THE SEA WATER PUMP). BUT WHEN I PUT THE HOSE INTO THE OTHER END IT COMES RIGHT OUT OF THE OUTDRIVE WHERE THE EARS ARE HOOKED UP. I DON`T KNOW IF THAT MAKES MUCH SENSE TO YOU. I BUILD OFFROAD RACE JEEPS FOR A LIVING SO I`M NOT A NOVICE I`M JUST NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE VOLOVO DRIVEN SET UP. I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS SOME KIND OF CHECK VALVE OR SOMETHING THAT LETS THE WATER IN AND SOMEONE MAY HAVE PUT IT IN BACKWARDS OR SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE PRIMED FIRST I JUST DON`T SEE IT NEEDING TO BE PRIMED IF I`M PUTTING A PRESSURIZED HOSE TO IT.

"Bill, I suspect the raw water

"Bill, I suspect the raw water hose connector in the outdrive may be perforated/corroded. If this is the case, the raw water pump will suck air rather than water. This is a typical VP problem. Find the water hose going between the outdrive and the transom shield, then disconnect it from the connector at the top or the outdrive (just remove the hose clamp) and pull it out. Chances are the connector is corroded. The good news is that those connectors are inexpensive and easy to replace.
