Running hot or fuel flow restriction which one

"I can run top speed for about

"I can run top speed for about a mile when a continuous buzz comes on. when I slow it down the engine cuts off and the buzz remains until I turn the key off then the buzz stops. my primer bulb has also been going soft, one time it was sucked flat. if this makes any sense can some one help. I forgot to mention, the boat runs top speed with the buzz until I throttle it down. I never ran it more than sixty seconds after the buzz started to see if it would slow down on its own."

"Sounds like a restriction to me. Do you have a seperate temp guage? Then you could rule out temp, but flat bulb seems to give you the answer.

Is the problem new this season? Anything different in your setup? Do you have a racor fuel filter? How did you store the boat, full tank? Empty tank? Stabilizer?"

"boat was stored at friends ho

"boat was stored at friends home with low fuel and he did not start and run it for a month. I checked fuel filter and gas was a rust color, I emptied it and gas reentered right color. When it sat for that month i forgot to flush after that use and when I did water was dirty coming out. I would hold my finger on the pee hole, let it build up pressure remove my finger and dirt and debrie would be pushed out."

"I have a fuel restriction pro

"I have a fuel restriction problem too, the fact that I still have a problem probably means I'm not the right guy to give advice, but here is what I have done. First, I've run the engine on 6 gallon portable tank to confirm that my restriction is coming from my tank (it is, because the boat runs like a champ on an external tank, but does exactly what yours does when on the main tank). If yours runs without issue on an external tank, then I would change the inline fuel filter/water seperator (racor)and check that the anti-syphon valve is not clogged (located at the tank pickup).

If none of this works then you'll be in company with me. In my case, I was pretty sure it was my gas itself as I had 20 gallons of 10% MTBE gas in the tank and topped it off with 10% ethanol gas before I knew anything about the evils of ethanol. I was sure it was the gas because I drew some out of the main tank and ran it in an external tank with the same issue, while new gas from an external tank ran without issue, thereby confirming I had bad fuel. So, I dropped all my fuel and started with a fresh 70 gallons. Just today I ran it and I still have the issue (I was so bummed to hear the alarm and see the depressed fuel bulb). I'm going to change my racor one more time, after that I'm giving up and bringing it to a mechanic."
