"A lot of people, me included, disconnect the fuel from the motor before taking it out of the water to run the fuel out of the engine. Is there a risk of running a cylinder dry (no oil) in engines with multiple cylinders before the engine stops? Especially engines with vertical cylinders.
Thanks,

"Bill, on some models (multi-carb) you do run the risk of running a cylinder or pair of cylinders dry while the other carb(s) continue to feed their respective cylinders.

If you use the motor on say a weekly basis, simply running stablizer in the fuel all the time will protect most parts from gumming up due to old gas. Alternately, if you are going to lay the motor up for more than a couple of weeks, you may be better served by draining the carbs - because even if you "run the motor dry" there will always be residual fuel in the carb bowl(s)."
